TRANSFOR-MATIONAL SYSTEMS

If you are really serious about improving the productivity of your business, then you must examine the work processes and systems that you currently have in place. If you do, you may be amazed by how things get done. For instance, how many people are involved in taking, placing and fulfilling an order; and even more importantly, how are decisions made - or not made? Unfortunately, many companies do not take the time to think through why they do the things they do. They just do them. "We've always done them that way" is the battle cry of most employees. The true resisters will even add, "Yeah, we tried changing it once, but it only messed things up worse." And yet, by examining what you do and how you do it, you can discover many opportunities for productivity improvements. But you can't stop there. You must look for the best practices. And then once you have determined the best practice, you need to be sure everyone is trained to implement the practice without deviation. Finally, employees must be of the mind set to continuously look for ways to improve this best practice.

Objectives of Module Six:
1. Recognize that by adapting best practices, productivity gains can be achieved;
2. Identify the systems that currently exists within your team, department or company;
4. Determine which processes need to systematized; and
5. Establish a plan for systematizing at least one process
