WHAT IS PRODUCTIVITY?

The dictionary defines productivity as the 'the ability to produce'. It also states that to produce is 'to create by physical or mental effort'. To increase productivity, we must have the desire to create more. On paper, this makes sense, but in today's business environment there is usually one other factor associated with increased productivity. We are challenged to produce more, but with less input than we currently utilize. So what does that mean for us? To remain competitive we have to find new ways to produce more, reduce costs, or improve quality with fewer resources. In other words, we can't keep doing things the same way.
